Joy Cioci NYFW Spring ‘12 Presentation Mix

A 20 piece collection inspired by her adventurous friends, traveling the world fearless and in search of love. Finding what they were looking for in each other, engaged to married upon return. Joy captured those worldly images, colors and alluring prints, creating playful pieces all with her feminine touch.

This was by far the most fun and easy mix I’ve made to date, not mention one of my favorites by far.

Joy Cioci NYFW Fall ‘11 Presentation Mix

This collection like the designer was young, fresh and extremely likeable. For her first collection, Joy Cioci showcased a good mix of flowing chiffon dresses, cosy knits and funky jackets. Every piece in this collection is both wearable and loveable. “New York Romance” was the theme and the clothes are distinctly New York yet carry a feminine, almost a dreamy flair.

Twinkle By Wenlan NYFW September 2009
Theme: Wenlan Chia’s Twinkle line was inspired by Yoko Ono and Blondie for her Spring Summer 2010 prints. The graphic patterns started out with a strong palette but evolved to acid wash impressionist prints that were far more femme. If one were to sum up the collection, it would be fitting to say it’s the right balance between feminine and quirky, with looks that can satisfy any woman with an appreciation for graphics and art and good music ;)

Playlist:
Yeah Yeah Yeah’s - Heads Will Roll
The Blacks - Sunday Boys
Metric - Poster of a Girl
Ladyhawke - Paris Is Burning (Cut Copy Remix)
Ladyhawke - Paris Is Burning (Alex Metric Remix)
Discobitch - C’est beau la bourgeoisie (Extended French Mix)
The Big Pink - Domino’s
This was by far one of my favorite and most powerful soundtracks I’ve ever produced. Sadly due to copyright detection software on SoundCloud I cannot upload the mix online.

Twinkle By Wenlan NYFW ‘10 Presentation Music

Below is the description I was given to turn this collection into a soundtrack. By far one of the most challenging projects I’ve done, I had but a few days to put this together but in the end my client was happy and her vision translated to music.

Note from Wenlan:

“Below is our inspiration this season for your reference. The presentation combines conceptual performance and fashion. Set in an illusional black and white house, the bookish, dreamy, awkward and beautiful girls find secret solace in an imaginary life rich in hyperbole.

The collection is inspired by Haruki Murakami¹s works- it is mysterious,
surreal, poetic and extremely modern. The lonely and isolated characters and their paranoid passions transport Wenlan Chia¹s collection to a vivid world that fuses futuristic fantasy and ancient myth.”

At the Monarchy show circa NYFW September 2009. Best seat in the house especially when you can see all the celebrities in the front row and models on stage enjoying the mix you curated for this very moment.

Monarchy NYFW Runway Mix February 2009

For this show I was given zero budget, a huge yousendit file of no-name tracks and the Monarchy Collection website. From this mish mosh of information I gleaned that the collection was going for harder-edge, American-based aesthetic that would appeal to those a touch above Ed Hardy.  So I decided to go with hard pumping male vocal rock/electro tracks that you could pump a fist to without messing up your perfectly gelled hair a London meets Vegas sound.

In the end I was told by the designer Eric Kim of Monarchy that this was the best soundtrack he’s ever had. He especially fell in love with the explosive beginning which after this show, he had me model each of my forthcoming runway mixes after.
